Quantitative biology: measuring and modeling biological systems

Virginia Tech and community college undergraduate students welcome!

Course Topics:

  • Cell cycle
  • Circadian regulation
  • Bioinformatics
  • Image processing
  • Computational modeling

Students will:

  • Interact with Virginia Tech faculty, establishing connections for potential future research.
  • Find out how the different research areas under biological systems modeling align with their interests.
  • Gain hands-on experience with several cutting-edge computational and biological research techniques.
  • Develop confidence in their ability to understand and participate in scientific research.

Daily Schedule:

  • Morning and afternoon sessions (~3 hours each) from Monday to Friday
  • All sessions will be held in Steger Hall at Virginia Tech.
  • Combination of lectures and hands-on activities
  • Lunch and breakfast will be provided each day.
  • Community college students not living in Blacksburg can sign up for a shared room during the week (weekends excluded).
